MARTOCK PARISH COUNCIL

The Market House

2007 - 2009

The Market House is a Grade II listed building in Martock, South Somerset.  It was built around 1785 by George Slade, the Lord of the Manor.  Since then it was used in a variety of ways by the community from its original function as a meeting room, shelter for market traders and site for the stocks, to a fire station.

I worked with the Parish Council to transform this historic building into a community information centre.  This involved working on their second round HLF application and writing the components of what is now HLF's Activity Plan, carrying out consultation in the community, providing evaluation expertise, planning a training programme for local volunteers and community groups and taking part in the Project Management Committee.  This was a unique experience to be involved in both the planning and delivery of a project of this nature.
